When we opened applications for the very first This Woman Knows Grant, we weren’t sure how many women would apply—but over 80 did. And what they shared?

Vision.

Courage.

Purpose.

We were blown away—and the women who applied did not make the judges’ job easy.

This wasn’t a traditional grant competition.
No trauma essays. No popularity contests. Just one question:
What are you building, and how does it benefit you and your community?

Today, we’re thrilled to announce the recipients of our inaugural TWK Grant:

Congratulations to our first TWK Microgrant award recipient, Amber Ivey.

Amber is the founder of AiDigiTales, an organization developing an educational card deck that teaches children about artificial intelligence—without increasing screen time. “Every child deserves AI literacy, no matter their zip code,” Amber told us. We couldn’t agree more.

After reviewing both women and their incredible work, we simply couldn’t choose just one. So—we tightened our belts and created a $100 special recognition award.

Vicki Seals, founder of Dementia Guardian, received our special recognition award for creating a visual safety symbol for individuals living with dementia. Her tool is designed to alert first responders and foster compassion in emergency situations. As Vicki says, “We are seen, we are safe.”

Both women represent the heart of what This Woman Knows is about: vision rooted in service, leadership grounded in community, and the kind of creative brilliance that doesn’t always get the spotlight—but should.

“This grant is about recognizing brilliance—not pain,” says TWK founder Lisa N. Alexander. “Some of the grant entries I’ve seen over the years were so deeply personal, they should never have had to be submitted in the first place. I knew I had to create something different.”

Applications are open from the 1st to the 20th of every month, and at least one grant will be awarded monthly. There’s a $15 application fee, and that one powerful question remains the same: What are you building, and how does it benefit you and your community?
