She remembers.
Your body remembers.
And the status quo is counting on you—
teaching you to dismiss her.
Neglect her.
Distrust her.

But she doesn’t forget.
Your body does not forget.

She’s the alarm system we’ve been trained to ignore—
like the car alarm in the neighborhood nobody checks anymore.

But she knows.
She holds the secrets.
The trauma.
The learned behavior she picked up to protect you.

She doesn’t forget.
She keeps accurate notes.

She recognizes seasons.
She remembers scents.
Sounds jog her memory.
Your body reacts before your mind even catches up.

So we seek out coping mechanisms—
anything to distract,
to numb,
to dull the pain or blur the memory.

But what she really needs…
What your body truly needs…
is healing.
Release.
A reckoning.
Justice.

She needs tears.
She needs yoga.
She needs sacred touch.
A real hug.
A signal that it’s safe now.

She can’t turn off fight-or-flight
until she feels safe enough to shift into rest and digest.

You will never dismiss her.
She won’t let you.
She can only be ignored for so long.

And every negative coping mechanism
just delays the reckoning.

She remembers.
Your body remembers.
She does not forget.

Speak kindly to her—
for all she’s endured.
For everything she’s helped you carry.
For functioning under the severest of circumstances.
She healed just enough when you rested just enough.

Undoing years of trauma
and unraveling decades of lies
will take time.

Because she remembers.
Because your body never forgets.

Every time you chose someone or something else over her—
she remembered.

And now her trust must be re-earned.
But she is eager.
Because healing and wholeness have always been yours.
She is willing.
Because you are she.
And she is you.

As you lean into softness,
as you treat her as holy—
She remembers.

Your body remembers.
She’ll never forget your acts of kindness bestowed upon her.

Because she never forgets.
Your body never forgets.
