Is There a Difference Between Evangelicals, Fundamentalists, and Christian Nationalists?
I watched Shiny Happy People with my jaw to the floor for most of the docuseries.
If you’re unfamiliar with the show, it’s the story of Jim Bob Duggar and his wife Michelle, and their 19 kids. They had a hit show on TLC some years ago…19 Kids and Counting.
The reason for me being slack-jawed while watching the docuseries is because, for the first time, I saw myself and my religious upbringing (parts of it) aligning with their fundamentalists’ beliefs. This sent me down a rabbit hole that concluded with an intervention with today’s special guest, Kerry Connelly.
Kerry is an author, holds a master’s in divinity, champions BLM and LGBTQ+ rights, and is a single mom who finds herself dating again and who just happens to be a reiki healer.
I needed answers, and Kerry was the one person I knew who could make it all make sense.
This is part one of a three-part conversation.
Enjoy the show!
