How Are You Re-sourcing Yourself?
As we navigate the challenges of life, it’s easy to forget how vital it is to resource ourselves. Rest and restoration are not luxuries—they are necessities, especially during seasons of transition.
In this heartfelt post, Kimberly Bady offers powerful ways to reconnect with yourself, build your internal resources, and prioritize well-being. Her message beautifully sets the stage for my upcoming blog, where I’ll explore how grief and rest intersect and why reclaiming rest is one of the most radical acts of resistance we can take. Stay tuned for that tomorrow!
For now, take a deep breath, reflect on Kimberly’s words, and allow them to inspire you.

In times of stress—whether triggered by personal challenges, world affairs, or simply the shifting seasons of life—it is essential to consider how well-resourced you are.
When we hear the word “resources,” we often think of financial abundance first. While that’s one piece of the puzzle, true resourcing goes much deeper. It’s about the internal and external support that sustains us in every area of our lives—especially during perimenopause and menopause, when everything feels amplified. Stress can feel heavier, emotions more intense, and the world a bit harder to navigate.
How are you resourcing yourself right now?
Here are a few ways to build your internal resources and fortify your well-being:
- Pause Before Reacting: Not every situation requires an immediate response. Taking a moment to breathe and center yourself before reacting to stress can change everything.
- Create a Personal Spiritual Practice: Carve out sacred time for prayer, meditation, or breathwork. These practices can help you reset and reconnect to your inner wisdom.
- Find a Like-Minded Community: Surround yourself with women who understand your journey and can offer love and support. It’s a gift to know you’re not alone.
- Take a Social Media Break: Social media especially these days often triggers your stress hormones, wreaking havoc on your nervous system, mind, body, and even your sex hormones during perimenopause and menopause. A break can help you better regulate your nervous system and restore balance.
- Get Your Rest: The world feels lighter when you are well-rested. Rest is not a luxury—it is essential.
- Slow Down and Ask for Guidance: Spend time in quiet reflection, asking God how your unique gifts and talents can best serve the world. Trust that the answers will come in time.
- Remember It’s Not All on You: Change takes time, and it’s not your job to fix everything overnight. Take one step at a time, knowing that your contribution matters deeply.
