At This Woman Knows, we believe in the power of story, vision, and legacy. Each month, we recognize women who are doing the sacred work of building something meaningful—not just for themselves, but for generations to come. Our August 2025 microgrant recipient is no exception.

We’re proud to introduce Alysia Joy Powell, founder of the C Love Foundation—a nonprofit organization committed to expanding awareness around careers in film and media production, especially for underrepresented communities.

“First, thank you for this honor. Secondly, my goal is to provide a pipeline and awareness of the other careers in filmmaking, while offering a diverse perspective that’s often overlooked, and giving opportunities to dream bigger. This award will go towards the administration fees of building our organization.” — Alysia Joy Powell

Through workshops, mentorship, and community engagement, the C Love Foundation is helping to shape the future of the film industry—one bold dream at a time.

We are honored to support Alysia’s work and affirm that her vision is needed, her voice is powerful, and her mission is worthy.

This grant award is especially significant as it was issued during Black Business Month and Black Philanthropy Month—a powerful reminder that investing in Black women’s visions is both a cultural act and a revolutionary one. With each microgrant, This Woman Knows is creating a new narrative around who gives, who builds, and who leads.
