practice-perfect

When you’re married to a musician, you learn a few things about discipline and skill mastery.

I’ve also learned that practice is what you do before a rehearsal. Professionals never show up to a rehearsal or event without first spending time on their instrument in private—working out the kinks.

My beloved spends hours at the keyboard practicing scales and picking songs apart.

He promised himself that he would learn to play in any key…just as his music mentor suggested decades ago.

He wanted to be a better musician so he practiced and became what he practiced.

Practice requires work. You’ll make mistakes but you keep practicing until you’ve mastered your craft or goal.

Practice is consistent effort applied.

You may not play an instrument but you can certainly practice:

  • Love
  • Forgiveness
  • Self-discipline
  • Prayer/Meditation
  • Self-care
  • Charity
  • Patience
  • Kindness
  • Saying no
  • Being healthy

You get the picture.

Consistent practice of your daily routines…your sacred rituals…propel you forward and bestows all the rewards that a dedicated lifestyle guarantees.

Remember, practice makes perfect.
