Convert from a PC to a Mac, from Blogger to WordPress, from Windows Vista to Windows 10 and you know the conversion process can be a lengthy one and a messy one.

Years ago, when I first started blogging, I used Blogger. Setup was relatively easy and you could have your first post up in minutes or maybe an hour depending on how tech savvy you were.

Well, as blogging became more than just a hobby for me and a crucial part of my brand I moved my blog from Blogger to WordPress for all the reasons the experts gave at the time.

The whole process could be described as torturous.

I didn’t know what I was doing and that was with the YouTube video.

The coding language was completely lost on me and what the heck was a .php file anyway?

But after days of reading and rereading tutorials and scratching my head and taking lots of deep breaths, I had migrated my blog to its new platform.

But that wasn’t the end.

Then there was the WordPress learning curve.

This was not blogging made simple like Blogger.

This was complicated and the complete conversion process would take me weeks, dare I say a whole month to figure out and complete.

I remember staying up late and getting up early; I was juggling getting my new site done while balancing client work and regular life. I was tired to the point of sheer exhaustion but in the end the conversion process and all it entailed was absolutely worth it.

It Takes Time

When you make the decision to change something in your life, the conversion process will take time.

I assure you, these things don’t happen overnight.

Especially if you want to change a mindset or way of thinking so that you can align yourself with who God says you are.

Deprogramming what parents, teachers, coworkers, bosses might have said about you way back when takes some undoing.

Converting their thoughts and opinions to ones that validate what God has said takes time.

So it takes time and it also takes consistent practice.

Yep. You are what you consistently rehearse. That means you have to be mindful of your thoughts and your speech.

You have to take control of thoughts that lead you back to the place you said you don’t want to be.

That also means you push through the difficult and less pleasant parts. You do it when you’d rather do something else and even when you’re scared. You push through.

Your best effort will vary from day-to-day. Some days you’ll be super successful, other days it’s a miracle if you get ten minutes of your workout or prayer time done.

You’ll find that over time, you’ll see effects of your conversion, taking root in your life; less of what they say and more of what God says.

So whether you’re converting your body from unfit to fit, old habits for new ones, destructive thoughts for ones that build and affirm—know that the process takes time and requires consistent practice.

Keep moving forward…you’re closer than you think.
