My grandfather had a saying for when we kids would half look for stuff and then claim we couldn’t find it.
He’d say, “If it were a snake it would have bit you.”
I thought about him recently.
About a month ago, I landed a pretty awesome opportunity that I only viewed from the surface. I didn’t see all the possibilities and there were many!
And indeed, if it had been a snake, it would have bit me.
I realized that we can potentially miss not-so-hidden treasure if we only do one of those surface glances.
It was right there all the time. I just had to examine what was in my hand.
I try not to focus on the fact that what was temporarily invisible to me, might have been obvious to someone else…no need to go down that path.
The important fact is that I did eventually see it and it changed how I look at things and how I leveraged that opportunity.
So today let me encourage you to take a look at what’s in your hand.
Are you making the most out of opportunities given to you?
Could there possibly be more than meets your eye?
